For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11
Merry, Merry Christmas!!
I am sitting on the couch watching the Today show, drinking coffee---waiting on Brent to get home so we can open presents!
Christmas Eve..
Last night we went to the 5 o'clock church service and came home (Brent only got 2 pages while there. One time he came back and said "could you hear me?" No. Why? "Because I had to say the word PENIS!" Welcome to my life!!)--Brent built a fire (although it was strangely like 50 degrees outside)---enjoyed a good meal (Not as good as being at home, but I tried. Brent mentioned the sweet potato casserole was a little "starchy" hmmm, I don't really know what to do about that...cook the potatoes longer?)--Also enjoyed a fine bottle of red wine---Smoky got to open one present early (a squirrel) and he loves---Ended watching a Christmas Story.....which Brent had NEVER seen.....GASP!! Laying in bed, he said that was a really funny movie.
Okay, so if he doesn't get home soon, I'm going to finally cry. Miss our families and all the commotion that would be going on right now, but this is a different nice....NOT BETTER, I don't think by any means!
Mom, Jill and Lance are headed this way tomorrow (or Sunday if they dare)!!! So excited.
Brent just got home!

I have to admit.....
Growing up (and as a young adult, haha) I have always peeked, snooped, and usually seen most of my presents before Christmas morning (you might think this is sooo sad, but I swear it never ruined Christmas....I loved it)
But this year (being a bit different, since we aren't going home).....
I have not peeked, one bit.....
Look at all those presents....

Only 2 more days....

I can't wait!!

Knoxville News Sentinel (12/17/09)
CHATTANOOGA — Tennessee investigators say a 4-year-old boy was found roaming his neighborhood in the night, drinking beer and wearing a little girl's dress taken from under a neighbor's Christmas tree.
The child's mother, 21-year-old April Wright, tells WTVC-TV the boy "wants to go to jail because that's where his daddy is." Wright says she and the boy's father are going though a divorce.
The boy, found outside his house in Chattanooga on Tuesday, was taken to a hospital and treated for alcohol consumption.
Hamilton County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Janice Atkinson says the incident is being investigated but the department declined to release the report.
The boy's mother says she met with child protective services and was told she will get to keep custody of her son.

So Sad (I'll save y'all the rest of all my other thoughts).
We have a tacky sweater christmas party tonight----across the street, so get ready for some fun pictures!! Nothing better than a party.....that's across the street, haha!

So, We Won't Be Home for Christmas

I know most people already know.....but, this is blogworthy. Teardrop, teardrop seriously!! This will be a first in all my 27 years.

Brent's on call---and instead of complaining----I have to admit that I am thankful for this urology program....and we really have it much better than most.

So, what am I going to do to keep these tears at bay???

I'm planning a big meal....FOOD, you can't go wrong, food helps everything!! And I think we will have this meal on Christmas eve (I've heard that Christmas eve is a lot quieter in regards to Brent being "on call" and then people/patients start calling on Christmas day). If you're in town, you're invited! Tentatively...

Christmas Menu
Ham (I have a gift certificate to honey baked ham)
sweet potato casserole
broccoli salad
green beans (probably casserole)
brown rice
red velvet cake (never attempted, but its festive)
Chocolate Pie

I hope more people can come after typing that out!!! But hey, I'm trying not to have many expectations and even if its just the two of us....all that cooking should keep me busy!!

On Christmas morning, Brent will have to go in to the hospital (but I don't mind sleeping in), and he should be done by lunch. I'm picturing leftovers for lunch (see above), presents under the tree, and maybe a good ole nap. Then rent a movie for the night or go to the theater (we have still yet to see Blindside). Better yet, watch all those movies that come on TV all day and night!!

I'm actually kind of excited about this! Could potentially be VERY SPECIAL!!

Good Morning, SNOW!!

This is what we woke up to this morning.
Rarely, do you see me jump out of bed at 7:30a on a Saturday morning.......
but this is quite the winter wonderland for us Southerners!

Loving it!!

Thanksgiving Break 2009

I am so thankful for such a wonderful (much needed) break filled with family and friends. Brent and I were able to leave Tuesday night and head back to Greenwood. We spent Thanksgiving day in Kosciusko with the Montague side of the family (and even got some of our Christmas on)!! On Saturday we headed to Starkville for the AWFUL game and Sunday made the trek home!!
Enjoy our trip in pictures (or at least the ones I took)...

hanging with our nephews

Dinner at Giardinia's

Grandmama and Uncle Frank

Cassey and Mark
Elena and Faith tearing into some Christmas presents!
Gotta hunt!

The biggest deer we saw all week...out the bathroom window (can you see it)?!

We sat with Aunt Marcy and Mom at the game (thanks Dad for the tickets)!!

Garrett and Paul celebrating their victory!

Richard and Katie enjoyed the game too!!

Did I mention how thankful I am for our friends and family....every single one of them (not just the ones we saw this last week)? We love y'all!!

I'm feeling a little sappy.....can you tell?
Brent's birthday is tomorrow.....28!
We had P.F. Chang's takeout tonight and tomorrow is lasagna per the birthday boy's request.

I actually don't mind doing laundry and I love me some fresh, warm clothes....but, I HATE putting it all away.

That is why I have folded all this on our bed....that has to be put away before we go to sleep...and usually Brent will help because he is also ready to go to bed. Pretty smart huh, ladies!!

I have been known to start folding laundry on the daybed downstairs or on the guest bed....and it has stayed there for way too long (we are talking about weeks). Ugghhh.

And yes, I do realize that there are only two of us!!

In honor of my 27th, I thought I would tell you 27 random things about myself (I'll try to keep them somewhat interesting)

1--I love this stage in life...young, married, working, etc.

2--I had buck teeth when I was little....seriously! First (of two) set of braces in the 3rd grade and had to wear a "headgear" at night.

3--Had to go to speech therapy when I was little because I couldn't say my "r"s. There by making my name, wamey wush! When the teacher told my mom I needed speech therapy, she responded, "but it's so cute"

4--Played soccer at Ole Miss for 4 years. A big sacrifice in the way of your "typical" college experience---but so worth it. Had my "normal" college experience in Nursing school.

5--Tore my ACL 1 week before preseason my senior year at Ole Miss. Played in two games that year WITHOUT my ACL...then got it fixed. Before that had started every game my first three years.

6--Rehab after ACL surgery SUCKS!! I hated every minute of it, but am very thankful for it now.

7--I always had a feeling I was going to marry a doctor.

8--One of my favorite childhood memories was watching "Rescue 911" on Tuesday nights as a family. Also, because of this show, I wanted to be a trauma surgeon when I grew up. This idea evolved into a nurse!

9--I want at least 4 kids.

10--I love fruity gum. Old school, like bubbalicious.

11--I do NOT iron. I don't know how to, I don't own an ironing board. I fold clothes when they are warm!

12--Love me some country music.

13--I NEED a new car. My front passenger side leaks thus soaking the floor mat every time it rains. My driver side door doesn't open from the inside thus requiring you to roll down the the door...roll back up the window...and then turn off the car. It has 177,000 and almost 13 years old.

14--I have this weird fingernail and toenail thing....and I notice every one's. There's a certain type I like more than others. I won't go into any more details (I know this is very weird)! Brent's are both perfect!!

15--Carrying on from the last one...I don't like other people's feet. If your toes are touching me...move them please...quick!!

16--I want to learn to sew.

17--My first car was my Dad's hunting truck...a.... 1989 GMC Jimmy, 2 door, diesel engine, with a wench. My friends and I actually enjoyed it very much!

18--I love cooking and feeding people.

19--I was definitely a tom boy growing up and a daddy's girl.

20--I have never personally met another "Ramey"

21--The last movie I went to see in the theater was A Time Traveler's Wife. I thought it was very boring. No, I have not read the book.

22--I stopped believing in Santa around the age of 7 based off the fact that my presents had UPC codes and therefore were obviously not made by elves at the North Pole (but rather came from Walmart, etc). This was not traumatic nor did I even acknowledge the fact to my parents.

23--I love to sleep and can pretty much go to sleep whenever I want.

24--My first "french" kiss was on Whitney's front porch on my birthday...I think I was either 13 or 14. His name was Donnie Weaver.

25--Nicknames include: Rames, Rainbow, Ro-Ma-O, Boo-ray.

26--My dream car is a Toyota Sequoia. I also dream of either an Acura or Volvo SUV. HINT, HINT, BRENT!!

27--I love Birthdays. I think they are very special.

Virginia Creeper Trail

The V. C. trail is a 35 mile stretch of "rails to trails" open to biking, hiking, etc.

We did the 17 mile stretch from Whitetop, VA to Damascus, VA today.

We got to Damascus last night and stayed at the Apple Tree BED AND BREAKFAST (a first for Brent and I). We enjoyed it...I mean you are basically sharing a, I kind of felt like I had to tip-toe around! We did get to enjoy a home cooked breakfast with a cool couple from Asheville whom were also riding the trail. Overall, neat experience....we'll probably do it again.

The ride was awesome. We took a shuttle up with the bikes and then got to enjoy the 17 mile downhill ride. Enjoy some pictures...we took a lot....

It looks like it snowed...

Old-Fashioned Chocolate Pie (Directly from the Prime Meridian cookbook)

1/3 cup cocoa
4 eggs, separated
1/3 all purpose flour
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cup sugar, divided
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/4 teaspoon of salt
2 cups milk
1 8inch pie crust, Baked

Preheat oven to 350. In a saucepan, mix cocoa, flour, 1 cup sugar and salt. Add milk and egg yolks. Blend well. Add butter.

Over medium heat, cook stirring constantly, until thick. Add vanilla. I got a little worried/impatient at this part, but keep going. It will thicken up and it happens in less then a minute! Pour into crust.

Beat egg whites until fluffy. Add remaining 1/2 cup sugar and beat until peaks form. Spread over pie. Mine never peaked, but I still poured it over the pie----still delicious. Next time I will be more patient and have peaks, because it would have been gorgeous!!

Bake 10 minutes or until golden brown. Refrigerate.

I just ate the last piece this morning with my coffee. To me, it's as good as any restaurant's. And let me tell you....I know my chocolate!!

As a side note: The Prime Meridian is produced straight from my hometown, the queen city, Meridian, Mississippi. And it is like my cooking bible. Every household needs one.

Here are just two from the rehersal dinner...

My mom and sister and me (where did I come from?)

And of course one of the hubby and I.

We had so much fun and look forward to the future!
