Merry Christmas 2010

We had such a MERRY Christmas this year.  I wish I would have taken more pictures...Right now, I'm giving myself the speech where if I would have been behind the camera I would have missed being in the moment kind of thing, you know that speech.  I just don't want to forget....
Here are a few.

The Rush Family

Christmas morning

Christmas morning

Poor Brent is on call this weekend and still hasn't made it home from the hospital yet (10:05pm).  You can feel sorry for Brent, however, don't feel sorry for me...I couldn't think of a better way to spend my New Year's Eve (blogging, in my pajamas, cleaning out closets and cabinets, watching football).  I'm being dead sober serious!!

I'm 28 weeks pregnant today...stay tuned for my update

A Wintry Week

and I'm loving it....

Monday morning we woke up to this

Couldn't get to work till around 10am.

Tuesday--snow on the ground
Wednesday--snow on the ground, sort of raining when we went to bed

Thursday (today) woke up to ice.  I mean, like a thick layer covering the roads.  I'm still at home. Brent slipped (literally) out of the neighborhood this morning and called to tell me I was not to be going any where this morning.  So be it!  I'm actually going to hitch a ride to work with a neighbor soon or just wait till around noon to go to work.  Things are in the process of melting....

So, since I have a little time and cleaning/laundry just doesn't sound fun...

I thought I would finally post about Thanksgiving. We spent it with Brent's side of the family in Greenwood/Carrollton.  We had a great time.    I am so thankful and grateful for the family I gained almost three years ago when I married Brent.  I am truly blessed and I just love them!  I only took these three pictures (besides our failed Christmas card attempt).

The next weekend, my Mom and Tom came to visit us.  We did a lot of shopping....mostly for Baby Hardin!  I got a few Christmas presents, some pictures to go in the nursery, got two pictures that my Mom cross-stiched before I was born that hung in my nursery custom framed (can't wait to see how they turned out--they won't be done until after Christmas---custom framing is expensive), we registered at Babies R Us (wow, there are a lot of things for baby...can we say overwhelming), and decorated for Christmas.  On that Sunday, we officially became members of Westminster Presbyterian Church here in Knoxville.  As for the boys, they spent a snowy day fishing in the mountains (supposedly they weren't too cold and it was BEAUTIFUL).
Love y'all.

Time is really flying...I can't believe it is the week before Christmas

and Baby Hardin (I REALLY wish we had a name for the little guy, but it has turned into an ordeal...that's a post by itself) is due in just THREE months...holy moly!

25 wks

What not to wear when your pregnant (according to Brent):

Saturday, December 4, 2010

Hello 24 wks...

Goodbye Bellybutton!!
Loving this part of pregnancy...
(side note:  my mom has always said that she "just loved" being pregnant....and every time I would talk to her during my first eight weeks of pregnancy I would always say, "you just don't remember."  Now, I feel the same way.  But I still think she forgot about the first few weeks...and I haven't yet)

Weight Gain:  total of 13lbs...the doctor mentioned the word "exercise" to off set my appetite!!

Maternity clothes:  pants for sure.  why is it that they feel like they are always falling down?

Sleep:  Good.  Lately, I've been getting up to use the restroom around 3 or 4 and can't get back to sleep.  Not because I'm uncomfortable...just not very sleepy.  That's kind of weird.

Movement:  YES!  The first real kick I felt was 11/17 and there was no denying it.  Brent felt him about two nights later but has only felt him a couple more times since then.  I still only feel him a couple of times a day but it is getting more regular.  I love it!

Food Craving:  Pretty much anything and everything.  I haven't craved anything weird.

What I miss:  Nothing.  Okay, maybe a glass of wine.

Looking forward to:  This weekend, my Mom and Tom are here, so I hope to get started on the nursery! and Christmas!!

(these pictures were going to be for our Christmas card....but my outfit really didn't flatter my bump so we will have to try again)

A Monstrosity...

Ole Miss vs. UT....

Despite the Rebels poor showing we did get to enjoy a beautiful Fall day in East TN.

GRRRRRRRR, Black Bears

Update to 20 wks.

I had my Doctor's appointment this morning and everything looked good (even though we didn't get an ultrasound).  Baby's heart rate was 150-155 and I had gained a whopping SEVEN pounds (which is in the normal range--they say about 10lbs at 20 wks)!!  Of note, my blood pressure was 86/54.  So, rest assured I don't have pre-eclampsia!!  I will go back in another 3 wks (not sure what we will do at this appointment) and then the next is when they will do the glucose testing.

* I had my first stranger ask me if I was pregnant yesterday.  It made me happy!  He actually said, "what's wrong with your stomach?"  He's not an actual stranger (he works at UT) but someone that hadn't been told I was pregnant.  My response to him..."you better be careful, what if I was just getting fat?  Some other girl might have cried!"
* Loving daylight savings time and the Fall.  I have decided that Summer is my least favorite season.  Yep, that's right.  I don't like summer that much.  Winter is my favorite.
*Ole Miss plays TN this weekend up here in Knoxville....however, everybody that was coming to stay with us has backed out.  So sad.

Halfway There

20 weeks
According to What to Expect When your Expecting...Baby boy is about the size of a large banana (7inches, 11oz)

Weight gain:  I'm thinking around 5-7 pounds? Will update on Tuesday after my doctor's appt.

Maternity Clothes:  None yet....but very, very soon.  I only have one pair of jeans that still fit.  Thank goodness I get to wear scrubs everyday to them!

Sleep:  Been sleeping great---I can still sleep on my stomach/side.

Movement:  This is a tricky question....I will say No, although I have felt some "gas bubbles" etc. that could have been the baby, but they are all feelings I have felt nothing new.  I have an anterior placenta (my placenta is on the front towards my belly button) which isn't a bad thing, it just means that it usually takes longer to feel the baby move since there is that big cushion in!  Speaking of anterior placentas, I also read the other day that this increases your chances of the baby being born "sunny side up" (where the baby comes out head up, looking at the ceiling) problem there except they say that this is a much more painful birth...Great, huh?!  I will be asking my doctor about this on Tuesday...

Food Cravings:  Any and everything.  I have had the appetite of a horse lately and I'm especially loving some sweets...the more sugar the better.

What I miss:  a "drink."  Oh to be able to enjoy a drink after work some days or at a tailgate.  Also, still missing my cup of coffee every morning and afternoon...although I will get an occasional cup now and then....just because!

Looking forward to:  Feeling this little one move and THANKSGIVING!

Overall, I have been feeling great.  I have had a little bit of a back ache (mostly in the morning) and some  heart burn.

Now, I'm sure y'all have all been waiting for this.....

Westwood Fall Picnic

I'm sure I haven't mentioned this before, but WE LOVE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD!!
It reminds me of the one I grew up in:  where everybody knows everybody and people are always out on the street or in their yards.

If it weren't for our neighborhood we wouldn't have any friends!!  Funny, but I'm not joking!  It was a PURE BLESSING that we happened to pick a certain house in a certain neighborhood.  Knowing what I know now...I would have gladly paid $75,000 more for our little ole house (this is by no means putting a dollar value on our friends...because they are priceless...but you get the idea)!

In other news...

(you know, besides baby)

Brent's parents came up the other weekend and we had a great time.

Me and Mrs. Hardin worked our tails off (her a lot more then me) and finally got our front flower beds planted.  For the last year (since we planted our grass) our beds have been butt naked,  but now they look so much better!!

And while we worked....the boys played.

Dr. Hardin spent some time with my Dr. Hardin in the operating room and on Saturday they went fly fishing on the Clinch River.

Brent and I are also in the process of joining Westminster Presbyterian Church here in Knoxville...just in time for baby.  I mean, this was a necessity....before bringing our baby into this world.  Until now we have just been visiting different churches....which by the way, is a bad habit to get into.  Anyway, I am so excited to finally be part of a church family again.  It's been waaaay to long.  And this Sunday kicks off a new Young Families Sunday school class that will be studying the book, Boundaries in Marriage.  I can't wait to get started!  I picked up a copy for us today at the church office.  I'll let you know how it is.
