Dear Mr. Volvo XC90,

It will be a little longer before I get to drive you...and park you in my garage...and call you mine.

You see, I couldn't wait to do our taxes this year and get a couple of thousand dollars back to add to what we have already saved for you.  Well, we did them tonight and....

This was totally unexpected....I'm still hoping this could be some kind of sick joke.  I/we have always gotten money back.  But, I'm afraid it's not.  Maybe if we wrote Obama a letter explaining that we would use our money to buy an automobile he would understand?

More importantly, I hope you understand why we will not be coming to get you next month.  Hopefully by this summer we can bring you home...however, you just might not have seat heaters.

Until then,

Go Donate TODAY---I Did!!

Did you know..."fewer than 5% of those who are eligible to donate blood actually do."  Seriously, I was there donating and this made me feel guilty (for not giving everytime I'm able)!

I'm in the middle of a personal project....which I do plan on sharing all the details....just not yet, but here's a glimpse!  I was checking out volunteer opportunities around Knoxville and it got me thinking....What is my passion?  I mean, it was kind of depressing.....I don't want to help out at a race, I like animals (but they're not my passion), homeless (I think some homeless people COULD get a job, but are lazy....obviously, not my passion with those thoughts).

Donating blood wasn't included in my google search....but sitting in the chair today, I knew this was my answer (goes along with the whole nurse thing).  And I've actually known all this since I was little.  Growing up, Mississippi Blood Services was always calling our house asking for my Dad (he would donate all the time).  I remember him explaining to me that he had O neg blood (I was around 13 or 14) which meant anybody, no matter their blood type, could recieve his blood, hints the reason all the phone calls from MBS.  Well, from the moment of our conversation....I secretly began wishing that I too, had O negative blood.

My first time to donate was in college, for extra credit in a class......about 2 weeks later I got my donor card in the mail with the GREAT news....I also have O neg blood (just like my dad)!  However,  today was only my 4th time ever to donate (I have tried one other time, but my iron was too low).  I know, what a waste.

Along the same lines (and part of my passion), Organ Donation.  It is literally the ultimate gift of life.  I know this sounds cliche, but its true.  Do you think you will need your organs in heaven?  People are literally laying on their death bed...waiting.  Or sitting in a chair getting dialysis....waiting...  It's important to tell your family your wishes because even if you put it on your license, your family has the final say so when the ulitimate decision is made.

To people that are scared to donate BLOOD (if you're scared to donate your will need to arrange a meeting with your preacher or something :-)!!  Honestly, the worst part of the whole thing is the finger prick (where they check your iron).  My finger is still a little sore, my arm doesn't hurt at all.  The only other thing I would recommend...Don't donate if you plan on doing anything too physical (i.e. soccer game, running, bar hopping) in the next several days.  You will want to take it easy for at least a full day and drink lots of fluid.

What a small help someone, for example, that has cancer on chemotherapy who is ALWAYS tired. Or a kid with sickle cell disease or leukemia that gets "stuck" ALL THE TIME.  You never know, it might be your Mom, sister, husband...that could need blood next.

Some Randomness...

Reasons for Randomness:
#1 Those 80s pictures are pretty hideous...and the more I see them the uglier they get, haha. So, finally a post to move those bad boys down!!
#2 Brent got my computer cord "spliced" back to life! Thank you darling.

Now for the randomness...

I'm ready for February to be over. It has hardly been the month of love around here, haha!! Brent has been on the Transplant service this month...and it is busy. He is on call 24/7 Monday-Saturday. This has meant, on average about 2-3 calls throughout the night...leading to some tired days and a little bit of grouchiness (mostly on my part).

This leads me to another subject: Does anybody else's husband SNOOZE in the morning? Argg....I've personally never been a snoozer. I like to set my alarm for the latest possible time and then when it goes off...immediately jump up. Anyways, Brent snoozes...alot...and it drives me nuts!! I can never get back to sleep between snoozes, because I'm worried he will oversleep or something. I have literally kicked him out of bed before! My heart rate is rising just thinking about it. Put that on top of this TRANSPLANT month....and 3 nights ago Brent and I had to have a little heart to heart about this whole snooze thing. Happy news, Brent hasn't snoozed the last 2 mornings....and really it has made a big difference in my days :-)

Okay, I guess that's enough about snoozing!!

TV update: I have already become addicted to American Idol. I think its going to be a great season, and I might even vote this year!! Did the Bachelor really choose Vienna to be in the top two? Come on now. Also, I thoroughly enjoy the Duggers. You have to love them (I do hope they don't have anymore that bad?). I haven't been able to get into the Olympics this year...I don't know why? I've watched a little downhill skiing and snowboarding. I remember growing up, crawling up in bed with my Mom and watching the Olympics every night. Especially loved the pairs figure skating, not so much this year though?!?

Ummm, my little brother got married last weekend. I can't say much about that, but please just say a prayer for his little family (that sounds so weird). And you might be so kind as to throw my name in there too, because Lord knows (literally)I need a little peace about this :-)

Looking forward to March....we are going to MIAMI for 5 days, booyah (Post to come)! Also heading to Gulf Shores for Erin's Bachelorette party in March...Watch out Florabama (post to come, haha)!! Speaking of vacations, the one I am most looking forward to is the one in SEATTLE (with my cousin and her hubby, couples trip, whoop whoop)to visit our GREAT uncle and family (a boat trip is already in the works)...let me just say SUPER EXCITED (and that will be an amazing post I know)!!

Whew, thank you blog...that was quite therapuetic!!

Valentine's Prom

At the Farrell's

1980s Style...

I've never been a big fan of Valentine's Day for numerous reasons. Just a need reservations to go out to eat and if it's early in your relationship: it can be just plain awkward (especially picking out a card)!!

My hubby got me a necklace and matching earrings. Poor Brent didn't get a present, but I'm cooking him some shrimp and grits for dinner (hope it turns out well)!! We didn't even exchange cards....but that's my kind of Valentine's day!!

Funny looking

I dropped Smoky off at Petsmart last Saturday morning and when I went back to pick him up; the lady that gave him a haircut and the manager were waiting for me. Not a good sign...

So basically, Smoky was not liking his haircut the whole time, But then the lady CUT his ear with the shears--then Smoky BIT her, like drew blood from her hand. Oh, and then he POOPED and PEED on her/table. They had to put a muzzle on him and take him to the vet... Who had to glue the "flap" back together.

I was horrified. A combination of embarrassment that my dog had BITTEN someone and mad-sad that Smoky was obviously traumatized to death (if he pooped and peed on the table).

All this was being told to me in front of everyone (and let me just say: Saturday around 2 at Petsmart in Knoxville is busy). It was awful and all I wanted to do was cry! The manager was trying to refund my money-- but literally I couldn't hang around a minute longer (or speak a sentence longer than 4 words) or I would have started bawling right then and there. Somehow we agreed that my next visit would be free and then we bolted.

Well, For all the above reasons they didn't finish grooming him. The end result is a VERY funny looking dog....

Pretty funny looking, huh?!?

I'm still not sure how I feel about the whole ordeal.....

"Who Dat?!"

I am so excited for the Saints and the city of New Orleans. What a great story. And I just love Drew Brees, I think he's a stand-up kind of guy.

We watched the festivites at a rented downtown loft with several friends. We also ate our weight in chips and dips!! Here is Owen checking out the BIG champagne cute?!
