2 down 3 to go

Today, June 30th, marks the end of Brent's second year of residency and tomorrow, July 1st, marks the beginning of his third year (five total).  Holy cow....can you believe it?!  In honor of this milestone....dun, dun, dun....I have created an acronym (crazy, huh?)!

     Ridiculous hours
Experience....on the Robot is the coolest, but we'll take cystectomies and nephrectomies.
     Scrubs= the dream wardrobe
     Information overload
Dumb people, as in patients....doing dumb things.
Eating....they go to sooo many nice dinners--between sales reps and diff. occasions
     Never-ending reading
Tide w/ bleach...for blood stains...mostly from "bloody urine"  Gross I know, but Brent says this weekly.

So proud of my resident.  And because I cannot refrain....

Cornhole Tourney

Chad and Brian (neighbors and members of the young professional something, something) helped put together a cornhole tournament this past weekend to benefit the Red Cross.  Alison and I were 0-3.  I was horrible...I think my arm is honestly, I only hit the board maybe 6 times total!!  I'm going to stick with neighborhood cornhole from now more regulation stuff.  But it was fun and for a good cause.

Roasting Joe!

As defined by Wikipedia:
A roast, in North American English, is an event in which an individual is subjected to a public presentation of comedic insults, praise, outlandish true and untrue stories, and heartwarming tributes, the implication being that the roastee is able to take the jokes in good humor and not as serious criticism or insult, and therefore, show their good nature. It is seen as a great honor to be roasted, as the individual is surrounded by friends, fans, and well-wishers, who can receive some of the same treatment as well during the course of the evening. The party and presentation itself are both referred to as a roast. The host of the event is called the roastmaster. Anyone who is honored in such a way is said to have been "roasted".

(so, i just spent an hour trying to explain what "roasting" meant for the sake of my blog--before i had the sense to google it and even then i was hesitant because i figured all i would get was food/rump stuff. i'm a moron)

Location:  Cherokee Country Club
After Party (no pictures): Sapphire

This was our third roast to attend and to me these roasts are sooo bitersweet and keep getting bitersweeter?!  You are officially done with super exciting is that, but at the same time scary.  It is also a time of good-byes to good friends, co-workers and teachers who have seen you grow from a mere medical student to a true doctor...a doctor who is about to have their own patients.  Oh yeah, and bring home a BIGGER paycheck.  But the truth of the matter is that I know it will be our turn before we can blink.  Man, BITTERSWEET, I tell you.  I can't even think about it anymore.

Congrats Janie and Joe, We will miss you.  Come back and see us.
