Hampton--18 months

I cannot believe you are 18 months old TODAY!  Time has flown by and I can't believe you will be a big brother in less than two weeks.  I'm afraid your little world is about to be rocked and honestly I feel so guilty.  However, anytime I start to get sad about it, I have to remind myself that this [a sibling] is the greatest gift your Dad and I could ever give you.

Things you Love:  Balls (can kick a ball now), blocks (can build a tower of about 6 or 7 high, dogs, outside, sliding, going for a stroll, Popsicles "sickle, sickle,"  ketchup, black beans, drink boxes, throwing things, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (and now you will watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates and Handy Manny), brushing your teeth, baths, using a fork and/or spoon.

Things you dislike:  Mother's Morning Out (although I think it's slowly getting better--you cry every time I leave you but you stop by the time I get down the hall and everyday I pick you up the first thing you say is "car, car."  As in, get me the heck out of here.  I also try to be one of the first moms there because you are always at the door going "mama, mama?"  Oh how it breaks my heart, but I know it is good for you to be away from me and get to socialize with others.  I want you to be confident, independent and have fun without me there.  Plus, I am NOT planning on homeschooling so you better get use to it :-)

It's hard to think of other things you dislike.....
definitely being told no, changing your diaper or putting on clothes is a wrestling match 8 out of 10 times, wearing a bib, when Mama or Dada leave.

Still a size 4 diaper.

12-18 month shorts/pants.  18mth-2T shirts.  Size 6 shoe.
(I think I messed up....I've been ordering 24mth and 2T Fall and Christmas outfits and I'm afraid you aren't going to grow into them by then/now.  They are just so long.  Hopefully, they will fit you next year???)

14 teeth (the canines are just poking through now)

Taking one nap a day (usually always for an hour and a half exactly).

Go to bed around 830p and sleep until 8 the next morning.  You have to have a ball (or two) and "Pup Dog" to go to sleep.  And I swear those balls don't leave your hand the whole night.

Still not saying too many words.  Have added a few such as:
eyy = hey
sickle, sickle = Popsicle
ta-ta = thank you
wa-wa= water

sometimes you will play the game..."can you say _____" and you will give it your best shot.

You can now make a "dog" sound along with your elephant rendition.  However, your dog sound sounds like you are clearing your throat....it is not woof, woof.  I do not know where you got this, but you do it every time.  It's hysterical!

You are running now.  Which in turn has caused quite a few bumps and bruises when your little feet get going too fast.  And good lordy it takes all I have to waddle my big booty and catch you!

Happy 18 months of life, Hampton!!

We love you more than anything in this world (and you'll always be our baby)!!

36 wks

Baby's heart rate was 150.  The Dr. also checked me when she tested for Group B Strep. and I was not dilated at all.

Weight gain:  29 lbs.  Yes, I am a whale and I feel like a whale!

Maternity clothes:  Yes.

Sleep:  Okay.

Movement:  All the time!

Food Cravings:  My appetite has actually decreased lately and I have been really trying to eat a little healthier......BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE A WHALE :-)

Woe is Me:  Heartburn, hot flashes, some swelling at the end of the day (I can only wear my rings comfortably 50% of the time),  and the tiredness has creeped back in.  After 3pm all I want to do is sit on the couch.  Unfortunately, Hampton makes this nearly impossible.  And why is it that when you get this far along people start telling you their weird pregnancy stories?  I was getting a slush the other day from Sonic (by the way, the Strawberry Tropical Breeze slush is to die for) and the lady that bought my slush out proceeded to tell me how she delivered her second baby at home in her bed, not on purpose.  Really, I don't even know you?!  So, yes, I'm kind of over being pregnant and just ready to meet this sweet baby girl!  I don't remember ever being this miserable with Hampton.

Daddy's Little Girl

Ever since we found out we were having a girl....... I love starting a conversation with Brent that begins "Can you believe we are having a girl?"  I really can't describe how much I love it.  He is soooo nervous.  And I still think he is in shock that he is even capable of producing a girl :-)  I mean the only time a girl has ever crossed his mind was after having 3 boys and then it was just a fleeing thought, ha!

And so I never forget...Here are some comments made by Brent:

"You know we won't be able to just let her run around and get bruises like we do Hampton."

"Now we are going to be just as nervous, if not more, with her as we were with Hampton."
      Referring to the newborn stage.

I was showing Brent two things I picked up for baby girl.  One was a dress with a diaper cover.
Well, Brent looks at me and says....referencing the fact that he has a lot to learn regarding hair bows,
bloomers, etc.  "I don't know anything about panty liners and stuff."  Ha, I died!

Trust me when I say this little girl is going to have her daddy wrapped....

Mother's Morning Out

Today was Hampton's first day of Mother's Morning Out and this Mama was a little sad :-(  Although, I  have to admit that I have been looking forward to him starting too.  I desperately needed a little space to relax and prepare for baby girl, and once baby girl gets here I know I will cherish our time alone (even if all we do is sleep from 930-130)!  He is going Tuesdays and Thursdays 9-2p.   I know this Mama's boy he is going to love it.  I'm pretty sure he is only one of three little boys in his class so hopefully he will be learning how to treat a girl :-)  I can't believe how big he is getting.  I swear he has turned into a little boy in just the last month.

So anyways, when I dropped him off this morning he went straight in and started playing.  I gave him a kiss and left....he was too busy playing to notice.  I stood outside for just a little bit until another mom was dropping her little girl off and I could hear him coming towards the door saying "Mama....Mama..."  Cue the tears.  Not really, I held them in, but talk about break a Mama's heart.  Cue tears NOW (no really, I'm writing this and its making me cry).   Okay, enough of all that mess, he's going to love it, but I can't wait to go pick him up!!

Of course, when I went to take his picture this morning our camera battery was dead so I had to resort to the iPhone and this is the best picture I could get.

Hope everyone had a good Labor Day weekend!  Be back soon.
