So Close

She just can't quite make it over the hump her arm.  She can spin a mean circle though!

Look at that determination....it won't be long!

So long are the days of just laying her down anywhere!

"NOE"

I'm pretty sure this was Hampton's first snow and I'm positive it was Anne Lowry's :-)

Hampton loved it and Anne Lowry was just out there long enough to get her picture taken.

This was the next morning.

The (mommy) X-Files

It has been raining for almost 5 days straight now with snow predicted for late this afternoon.  Luckily, I think someone is building an ark nearby, hopefully they will swing by and pick us up!

Rain or no rain, starting around 5:15 most nights--things at my house start to go south.  Does this happen at your house?  Anne Lowry only wants to be held at the same time Hampton is extra whiny and usually right under my feet.  Well, last night things started to go downhill around 4pm and Brent was on call...so, around 430 I scooped up Hampton for a fun bubble bath (more for something to do rather than to "wash his booty").  This works for Anne Lowry too, she is always up for anyone to take a bath or shower.....she likes the sound.

Okay let me set the scene...

Being the super cool mom I am....we did lots of bubbles.  Anne Lowry is sitting on her boppy lounger enjoying the sounds and I'm parked on the toilet (the lid is down people)  with the iPad probably reading the blog of somebody I don't even know :-)  Hampton is enjoying his bubbles.  I was expecting at least 30 minutes of "fun."  Well, after about ten minutes Hampton starts trying to get out of the tub...which is his signal for I'm done.  "Come on man, don't you want to play a little longer..." Hampton wasn't biting, so I put down the iPad to finish his bath.

I start dumping water on his head to wash his hair and notice some weird almost floating chunks of something.  Remember we have lots of bubbles so I can only see a portion of the water where I just dipped the pitcher to wet Hampton's hair.  My first thought was....yuck, is the pitcher I'm using dirty again.  I was skeptical only because we had just cleaned it with Clorox last week when we noticed some grime in the handle part of it (yeah, now don't you want to go clean yours)!  Anyway, as I further investigate scraping the bubbles away "it" is everywhere and then there is the BIG "it."  No wonder Hampton wanted to get out.

Are you following?  Hampton had pooped in the tub and I couldn't tell because it was hidden underneath all the bubbles.  I had then been scooping it up and pouring poop on top of his head.  Then comes the moment of "what the hell am I suppose to do?"  I started letting the water out and running fresh water to rinse him off, but this was not satisfactory.  So, I pick him up sopping wet and run him to our tub to give him a quick but thorough wash.

Then I had to clean the tub.

Hampton, please remember this story when I'm old and demented and you are looking at nursing facilities to put me in....maybe I earned an upgrade!  I'm not talking about my own wing at your home or anything (though that would be nice :-)  I'm talking about adding an extra morning snack time to my plan or making sure I get a bowl of ice cream with Hershey syrup every night.....ohhh, that second one sounds good!

Sweet Dreams...

are sure to be had in this beauty.

Totally in love with this bed from Restoration Hardware.  King size please!  I'm not sure if Brent realizes this, but I fully intend to purchase this bad boy for our new master bedroom.  I've been saying for years that a nice bed was the one thing I really wanted once Brent finishes residency.....you know, sort of like the symbol for "we've finally made it!"  Whatever that means :-) The other thing we need, of course, is a master bedroom big enough for a king sized bed!

  Happy Sunday, Peeps!

3 months

Happy 3 Months Anne Lowry !

--Eating about 6 oz (pumped breast milk) every 3-4 hours, closer to three hours.
--Size 2 diaper, although I think I will buy 3s after we run out...we've been having a lot of blow outs!
--sleeping about 10 hours at night.
--she's still pretty much on the eat, play, sleep schedule (even if she only sleeps for 20 minutes before her next feeding).  Usually once a day in the late afternoon she will skip a sleep.
--Size 3 month and 3-6 month clothing....3 months aren't going to last much longer.
--smiling and even has laughed out loud.
--"talks" all the time.  seriously, she will have a real conversation with you!
--has gotten really good at holding her head up.  sat in bumbo for the first time the other day.
--still spits up a good bit.
--found your hands and get excited when they find their way to your mouth.
--loves her bath...does not like the after bath part.
--loves a ceiling fan and car rides
--not taking the paci as much at all
--Nicknames:  LaLa (Hampton gave her this name), Little Miss Moo Moo (mine), Brent refers to her as just Anne a lot.

ME @ 3 months...
--Let the hair loss begin.
--Started working out Jan. 2nd for the first time in 2 years.
--8 lbs heavier than when I got pregnant...holy cow (no pun intended :-)
--Currently in the process of drying up my milk supply.  Pumping was such a better experience this go around.

Dear Anne Lowry,
I am 100% head over heels in love with you.  Your mannerisms are just precious....the way you clasp your hands together while you eat, the way you smile with your whole face and will even throw in a little wink when I'm lucky, even the build up before your cry is the sweetest most precious thing I've ever seen....seriously, your pout just melts me and the way your eyebrows turn bright red before you cry makes me laugh!   To be honest, it took a little longer to really, truly bond with you then it did with Hampton.  I'm not quite sure why, although I have several theories!?  Of course, I've loved you from the very first minute you were born and instantly wanted to protect you something fierce---but that true bond has developed over these last three months.  Baby Girl, don't worry...we have already more than made up for lost time!  You are beautiful and have truly made me a better person.

I love you more than you will ever know,
Mama.

Christmas 2012 Recap

Last Christmas post, I promise.

But I wanted to remember what a great Christmas we had!  I'd even go so far to say, it was the best one in at least 10 years!  Brent had a full 10 days off so we headed back to Mississippi.  It was the first time we had been back in over six months and it was sooo nice to see everyone.  Hampton and Anne Lowry were great the whole trip and out of the almost 20 hours we spent in the car they combined only fussed for maybe two minutes total.  Seriously, I've got the best "car babies" ever!  I will say, in Hampton's case, the ipad helps a lot!

Hampton didn't understand the whole "Christmas and Santa" thing but he loved all the commotion, attention and running wild all day.  He's right at the beginning of actually playing along with and interacting with little kids (cousins) instead of just playing by himself alongside someone else (does that make sense?).    I thought he would like opening presents but he really didn't care at all.  He did love all his new toys....however, he did not love when we tried to take said new toy away so he could open another, but hey---that's got to be confusing to a little kid.   I'd have to say the biggest hits this year would be matchbox cars (from Aunt Jenny) and the Fisher Price Loops and Swoops  (from Phyl and Jimmy), and his chair (from Nina).  However, there are still some toys we haven't even gotten out of the box yet and with a little more practice and a few more months I know he will absolutely love his motorized motorcycle and tractor (he got the hang of the pedal but does not know how to steer)!  He We were seriously spoiled this Christmas.  And I will say I think a fascination with trains is beginning.  He loved the train set up at Phyl's and loved playing with the train tables in Meridian at Paw Paw's and Lake's house.  I'm thinking Santa might need to bring him a train table next Christmas :-)

Anne Lowry also had a big time in Mississippi.  She loved meeting/seeing everyone and did not mind one bit being passed around from one lap to another.  In fact, I'm pretty sure she was in heaven with all the holding and attention she got :-)  I'm going to do her 3 month post next but she is totally not my little newborn anymore which kind of makes me said....but I love seeing her grow up at the same time!

We came back to Knoxville on New Year's Eve and are still trying to recover from all the fun!

Christmas in Kosy

I did not take one picture of Hampton...he had fallen asleep in the car on the way there and he took forever to wake up...needless to say when he did wake up he was a bit grouchy and by the time he warmed up it was time to go :-)
