Getting Ready (Swim Lessons)

For a TWO week vacation at the beach (my family one week and Brent's the next).  I. AM. SO. EXCITED!

and also getting ready to live on a lake.  Safety first!

This was the first of five lessons and I'm so excited to see how much he progresses.  By no means, will he be swimming by the end but I do think he will be a lot more comfortable in the water.  He definitely has a love/hate relationship with the water.  When we first got there he was practically dragging me into the pool and everyone was pretty impressed with his eagerness....well, I told them to just wait....and of course, he ended up being a "clinger." Hehe!  The class was really a lot of fun and the teacher is really good.

Big News x 2

We had Anne Lowry baptized yesterday.
It was a very special, sweet time for our little family of four.  Anne Lowry was a perfect angel and when I handed her over to our Preacher, Buran, she just stared at him and everybody had a good laugh.
Seriously, the girl can stare a hole through you!

Hampton, on the other hand, put on quite the show!  He kept saying "Ca-Ca" (candy, since we had been bribing him with it the whole service) and "wa-wa" (water, as soon as Buran uncovered it).  Thankfully besides being a little chatty, he was happy and content the whole time Brent was holding him!

I feel slightly guilty that we did not have a big celebration afterwards....but mostly I feel relief!  I've got a lot of making up to do at somebody's one year old birthday!!

Horrible picture of me, but I thought it was funny --  lesson learned, do not take a picture with something "interesting" behind you.

I still do not have a picture of my two babies together...I think I'm just going to frame this one.

Now, are y'all ready for the 2nd Big news?

...
No, I'm not pregnant!  Shame on you for even thinking that :-)

Chunky Monkey.....got a tooth!

So funny, because just the other day at her six month check up the doctor looked and commented that her gums weren't even swollen.  Well, yesterday (4/20/13)  I was just letting her gnaw on my finger and felt that sharp, jagged little sucker.  It's the bottom right one.  She's handling this teething thing much better than Hampton did!  I mean seriously we had no clue it was coming!
Tough girl!
I started writing this post yesterday....Anne Lowry has been sleeping through the night for almost two weeks straight now.....well, last night she was up twice sceaming crying...bless her heart :-)

2 Years Old

Hampton's  photo shoot didn't go quite as well as his sister's.  I took him to the neighborhood park dressed in a cute jon-jon and within the first 2 minutes he had fallen in the mud.....then a little girl with a very pink, princess bicycle came along and Hampton could not leave the "sickle, sickle" alone so we had to leave....kicking and screaming might I add!

I was able to capture these gems the other night  Not quite what I had in mind, but I think they do a good job of showing his little personality.  I will try again for a "framer" soon!

LOVES
All things little boy:  cars, trucks, trains, dogs, bicycles, being outside, water (especially puddles), Mickey Mouse, Doc McStuffins, hats, shoes, juice, fruit snacks, suckers, ice cream cones, Cars the movie, swings and slides.

DISLIKES
haircuts, washing his hair, brushing his teeth (although he doesn't mind sucking the toothpaste off), being told no or time to go.

Still does not have that many words (I'd guess around 20), however, he "talks" all the time.  He will even combine two words together...."wa-wa gone" or "no, no wa-wa" are the most common.

How do I even begin to describe his personality?  It's almost impossible.  Y'all, he really is the sweetest thing in the world.  He is caring, friendly, sensitive and a little on the shy side while being "all boy" at the same time.  He is also very cautious.  He is very quick to "tell" you that he might hit his head, or his nose, or could poke out his eye :-)  Honestly, Brent and I have made a conscious effort to stop telling him to "be careful" over the little things!  He is the best little cuddle bug in the world.  While I do not think we've entered the terrible twos....the whining has got to go :-)

Size 2T (shorts more of 18-24mth)
Size 4 diaper
Size 7 shoe

Goes to bed between 8-9 (we are not sticklers by any means) and sleeps until 7-8.  Still in his crib and has never attempted to climb out ....because he might hit his head :-)  Takes one nap a day around 1230.  Usually naps for an hour and a half, but lately has been taking 2-3 hour naps ( I think it's because we've been getting outside a lot more now that the weather is nicer).

Other things I want to remember...
*For some reason all trucks, big and small, are "mailman's"
*he likes to add an extra syllable onto the end of words: "gone-aye, down-aye"  It makes the word sound  Australian
*The best big brother and has never really been jealous at all.
*Just now starting to interact some with other kids instead of play alone.
*He would literally watch t.v. all day if I would let him.
*Super smart and can remember stuff from months ago, but has no interest at all in learning to count or his ABC's.  It's honestly getting embarrassing.  Of course, the most common question strangers ask is "how old are you?" and all Hampton will give them is a blank stare or start talking Swahili
*He knows directions....he can lead the way to the park in our neighborhood and knows if you go right instead of left that we are not going to the park and that usually causes a small meltdown.
*He is starting to become aware of when he tee-tees and for some reason he calls it "juice."  So, if he grabs his crotch and says "juice" that means he's probably tee teeing.  Lovely huh?!  I've tried to sit him on the toilet before but nothing has ever happened.  We aren't close to potty training....which is okay by me at least until we move.
*pretty picky eater and sometimes will not eat anything.

TWO YEARS OLD IS MY FAVORITE AGE YET

My heart truly aches I love him so much!

6 months--and a little photo shoot

You are a chunky monkey!  We don't go for your 6 month check up until next week.  I can't wait to see your stats.

--wearing 9 month clothes
--size 3 or 4 diaper
--size 1 shoe (although haven't worn shoes yet)

--no teeth
--takes 6-7 ounces of formula every 4 hours
--girlfriend loves her food! has tried peas, sweet potatoes, yogurt, prunes/apples and peaches.
--will not drink apple juice or water from her bottle...I've been trying different things to get her to go to the bathroom more often :-)

--sitting up really good now
--rolling over both ways
--loves exersaucer and facing out in the baby bjorn
--loves her brother and her mama
--likes bath time
--ticklish :-)

--goes to bed around 9 and I usually have to comfort her around midnight and then give her a bottle around 430a-530a.  After her bottle she will go right back to sleep until around 815ish.
--we are not on a solid nap schedule.  usually takes about three a day.
--much more of a morning person!
--usually fights sleep so I rock her to sleep most of the time.

Anne Lowry is definitely our little fire cracker!   She is sweet as pie but also has quite the little temper--wonder where she gets that from?!?  She is also a tough little cookie.  Love her to death!

I cannot believe our pretty girl is six months old already!

Happy Monday!

Parked

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter!

This was not our typical Easter....we headed to Oxford on Friday to do the final inspection of our new home.  Yes, it's ours now!  From there we went to Carrollton for the weekend.  It was a short but sweet visit with family.  Brent decided (a week before) to run the Greenwood half marathon on Saturday.  My Stud finished in 2:02....with practically no training!  Never in a million years could I do that.  Which, by the way, I have abandoned the Nashville half I was going to do.  I just don't have the time to commit to such an endeavor...and I have to record the small fact that Brent kind of sabotaged me!  We headed back to Knoxville Sunday morning.....no church for us :-( and our Easter lunch was at Waffle House in Tuscaloosa, just the four of us!  Making memories, I tell you!

To be honest, it feels like we are living in limbo.  Anne Lowry is still in the pack and play in our room because she doesn't even have her own room.  We are just living with the essentials (well, a little more then that) because our house is on the market. Blah, blah, blah!  I'm not complaining, I promise.  I wouldn't trade this life for anything and these last months in Knoxville are precious.  Now, if only the weather would stay warm....I will complain about that :-)

Anyway, just wanted to check in.  We are planning on staying parked for at least a month.  I've got lots of posts planned.  It is suppose to be a gorgeous weekend with 70 degree temps and I plan to take some good pictures of my TWO YEAR OLD and SIX MONTH OLD!

And this is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.
