Meet "Pup-Dog"

The One and Only!
Seriously, I've tried to find a replacement (just in case)!

Out of all the stuffed animals in his crib this is the one he has always gravitated towards.  I'm pretty sure my Aunt Neva gave him to me at a baby shower.

Hampton's "attachment" to this little dog started around 10 months old (or when we started our soft version of cry it out).  I use the word "attachment" kind of lightly because he's never really cried for it or made a big deal if I haven't let him take it out of the crib??  Hampton has also never had to sleep without him, so I'm not sure how that would go!  However, there is no denying his love for Pup-Dog!

These days there is no telling what Hampton ends up sleeping with!  If he is whining when I place him in his crib I'll say, with a whole lot of empathy in my voice :-)....Oh, what do you need?  And he'll take a moment, assess the room and whatever fancies his pants diaper  at the moment he'll ask for.  You know, the random train on the floor, the big blanket over his chair.  Buzz Lightyear is my least favorite choice because it never fails at some point during the night or early in morning I hear "To Infinity and Beyond" or some other Buzz saying over the monitor and I'm always a little freaked out when I hear a person's voice coming from his room for a split second.

I've also got to mention (since this post is really only for my sake anyways)....Hampton will now ask to "rock."  And although I know 95% of the time it's only to delay going to bed....Who am I kidding, 100% of the time......I LOVE IT!  And I'll sing.  I've got three go to "songs."

1.  "I love your little toes, I love your little toes, Hi Ho the dairy O, I love your little toes.  I love your little ears, I love your little ears, Hi Ho the dairy O, I love your little ears"
Obviously, I made this song up.  I think its' to the tune of whatever song "Hi Ho the dairy O" comes from.  However, the song is pretty genius if you ask me.  It can go on as long or as short as you want and you can even change body parts you love for characteristics....such as:  "I love your little smile" or "I love your funny jokes."

2.  Jesus Loves Me....
Only the first verse, after that the lyrics get a little blurry.

3.  You are my Sunshine.
This changes to Monkey too.

I must be really good because Hampton always asks for more!

On a related note---I was rocking Anne Lowry one afternoon and singing song #3 while Hampton was playing with his toys....well, when he realized what I was doing he looked at me like I was cheating on him.  Seriously.  I did not know what to do.  Part of me wanted to stop singing immediately.....but my psychology degree told me to keep singing.  I kept singing and he stopped playing and immediately came to get in my lap.  He didn't seem to mind he had to share my lap.....and song #3 became, "Y'all are my sunshines, my only sunshines...."

These are the days.....

right?!

Getting Piggy With It

Pig Jam 2013

Usually, after the "boys" have a few drinks...on any said night....they start dreaming up the wildest plans.  Us wives usually just grin, and nod, and sip on our own glass of wine while chatting about the latest dirty diaper or some other mommy story.....for we know these plans aren't really going to happen....90% of the time at least.

Well, about 1 1/2 months ago the idea of "Pig Jam" was born in lieu of the boys annual weekend camping trip.  The boys started researching, planning, and then sent out an invite.....to a lot of people....and then a few days later over 100 people had RSVP'd they were coming.  What the What?  None of the guys had ever roasted a pig.  Now, the wives were a lot a little concerned about the logistics of all this.

Well, the boys totally outdid themselves with little help from us!  The setting was perfect, there was a band, beer, photo booth, and plenty of food/cake!

The Inaugural Pig Jam was a success.....
despite the fact that the pig didn't quite turn out :-)  Can we say pork sushi!  However, a quick run to the nearby BBQ place for a 20lb order of cooked pig solved that problem and everybody was able to eat.  I will say, there were some bruised egos, but nothing a few more beer couldn't take care of.  As Ben said, "maybe we should have had a test run before we invited 100 people."

I'm sure there will be Pig Jam 2014 because the boys have something to prove....
and we can't wait because it was so much fun!

7 months young

--Mostly size 9-12 or 12 mth clothing.
--Size 4 diaper (this is the same size Hampton wears! while just a little too big...it's a lot easier to just use one size)
--Eating 7 oz formula about every 4 hours.  Snacks on just an ounce or two of formula a couple times a day.  We also eat baby food most mornings and nights.  She never really fell into the eat, play, sleep pattern which stressed me out in the beginning....I'm finally accepting that and just rolling with it :-)
--We have tried most all baby food and the only one she is not wild about is peaches.  I would say her favorite is yogurt.  Even though she scarfed down squash....I am not giving her any more.  For some reason the two nights she had squash for dinner she was up multiple times during the night crying.

--Sitting up like a champ.  (We now sit in highchairs at restaurants and ride in the front of shopping carts)
--Does not like her exersaucer very much anymore.
--She slowly "scoots" around.  I can no longer sit her somewhere and expect her to be in the same spot when I return.
--Showing some interest in crawling.  Right now, she can only go backwards when she pushes with her arms.  I have seen her rock back and forth a couple of times.
--wanting/trying to pull up.
--Loves Hampton.
--Will reach for people.
--Easy to laugh.
--In general, sleeps through the night.
--And I'll take a second to brag on my daughter....spit up is basically non existent these days and it has been weeks since she had a poopy diaper blowout, wahoo!

I've decided I like about 3 weeks of the newborn phase and then I much prefer this age!  It is now a lot easier to just go somewhere....I no longer have to pack everything and the kitchen sink in the diaper bag just to run a quick errand and I don't have to time when I leave just right in regards to when she last ate.

Girlfriend, your personality and expressions crack me up all the time.  You are a lot of sweet and a little spicy!
We love you more than you will ever know!
