A Whole Hand--All about Hampton at 5!

Hampton turned FIVE on March 22nd.  Such a fun age and birthday.  He couldn't wait to turn five like some of his buddies at school.  He also couldn't wait to open his presents.  Presents are definitely his love language :-)

Last night as a 4 year old

a present from everyone in the family :-)

He had a great day!  He woke up to candles, powdered donuts and presents.  Then Anne Lowry, Hollins and I took cupcakes to school for his class.  That afternoon he had his very first baseball practice (that is going to be a whole separate post.....cutest thing I have EVER seen.....little boy in baseball uniform, be still my heart).  Then he picked dinner at Firehouse Subs.  His party is this coming Saturday at the bowling ally.  I'm afraid I may have set the bar too high for all this birthday stuff?!?  Haha!

How old are you? Five
Who is your best friend? Wade and Thomas and William
What is your favorite thing to do? wrestle daddy
What is your favorite animal?  Cheetah, because he runs super fast

What is your favorite movie?  The Good Dinosaur
What do you want to be when you grow up?  a worker with daddy!
I just love you, that's it!

Hampton,
You have turned into such a  little BOY.  You love to wrestle, be outside, play in the dirt, all things superheroes/powerrangers etc., TV and iPad.  You have also really started to get into sports.  You have loved your first couple of baseball practises and really want to play tennis too (i think we will try that this Summer).  You are smitten with your daddy and the feeling is mutual....he is loving sharing his passion for Ole Miss, sports and all manly things with you!  You are also very competitive and everything is a race or competition.  Unfortunately, you are NOT a very good loser right now!  We are working on that :-)  You are doing great in school and love it.  I have been so impressed with everything you have learned.  You can spell and write your whole name and count to 100.  Numbers are your favorite!!  Y'all have even started to do addition and subtraction.  You are my easiest child by far and have been since day 1.  Thank you....because these girls are giving me a run for my money!  You are sweet, kind and naturally a people pleaser.  Don't get me wrong, you can push the limits and love to annoy Anne Lowry but overall you are a very easy going kid.  Your dad and I are so proud of you and love you with all our hearts.  I can't believe my baby is FIVE (I love this age by the way....still cuddly and not embarrassed to give your mom a hug or kiss and you love when we come to see you at school)!  I'm definitely soaking it up while I can.  XOXO, Momma

Funny things you have said:
"Let me think.  My brain says...."
If I ask: Who taught you that?  "My brain"

I can't remember if I documented this one....

I was driving Hamp to something a while back and a squirrel was in the middle of the road.  I said, "oh no, don't go that way little squirrel"  (he was turning back to go under my car).  And Hampton said, "what?"  And I said, "oh, I was just talking to that squirrel in the middle of the road."  In utter amazement Hampton said, "He can talk?"   HEHE!

3 weeks with our Pink Caboose!

Three weeks flew by and I am trying to soak up every bit!

Let's start with some stats:
When she was born (Thurs) she weighed 7lbs 6 oz
When we were discharged on Saturday she weighed 6lbs 12 oz
We went back for a weight check on Tuesday and she was 6lbs 13oz

At 11 days old on 2/15/16 we went for her first peds appt.
she still weighed 6lbs 13 oz (14%)
Height:  20.5in (66%)
Head circ: 34.5cm (22%)  Way smaller than my other babies' heads!

Went back for a weight check 3 days later on her 2 week birthday and she was 7lbs even....going the right direction, just slowly.

At 3 weeks she weighed 7lbs 10oz.  Yay, finally made it past birth weight!

At 3 weeks you are still sleeping a lot.
No real schedule but I make sure you eat every 2-3 hours during the day and at night I will let you go about 4 hours.  Yes, I have to wake you up to eat at night and then you go right back to sleep for another 3-4 hours until about 5-530am and we start our day.  You are a GREAT sleeper.  Hallelujah!  You love the car seat and always fall asleep in it.
Still wearing newborn clothing and diapers.
Still haven't had a "real" bath.  I just lay you beside the sink on a towel and go from there.  Definitely third child problems!
Hampton is still not very interested and doesn't want much to do with you!
Anne Lowry still LOVES you and always wants to hold you and know what you are doing.  I do have to remind her to be gentle every so often.
You get fussy in the late afternoon until you go to bed.
sleeping in a rock-n-play beside our bed.
Still have all your dark hair.
Not sure what color your eyes will be....still dark now but I can see some blue in them too.  Pretty sure Anne Lowry's were the exact same and they turned out blue?!

Biggest News for Last :-)
I am BREASTFEEDING you!  Like not pumping but breastfeeding.  You guys know that I have never been a fan of breastfeeding since my horrible experience with Hampton.  However, I am a fan of breast milk and think that is best....so luckily I have been able to give each baby breast milk till about 3 months through exclusively pumping.  I figured I would do the same for Hollins, however, in the hospital I tried to breastfeed her a few times and she was a natural.  So here we are 3 weeks later and still going and she's gaining weight.  Now don't get me wrong I love it and definitely think it is the sweetest gift I could have ever asked for with my last baby....but I am still no breastfeeding activist or anything :-)

Pictures and info are from when Hollins was 3 weeks....Hard to believe she is 5 weeks today (8lbs 6oz).  It's literally taken me 2 weeks to finish this one post!  Enjoy the pics, I wish I could bottle up this newborn-ness ( i think that should totally be a word, newborn-ness)!  She already seems so much bigger than when these pictures were taken.

This picture (above) is 100% Brent Jr.....looks just like he did!

Paw Paw love

No words for this child

Aunt Jilly

Thrilled about Super Bowl Sunday

Super Bowl Party :-)

Sweet Sleeping Baby

Anne Lowry LOVES her baby sister.  Bless her heart, AL was sick when Hollins was born so she did not really get to hold her a lot in the beginning.....notice we have Hollins bundled up trying to protect her from the germs!

The Princess Ball

Daddy with BOTH his Princesses!

The ONE and ONLY time Hampton has held Hollins.  He's not the biggest fan yet :-)

Pretty sure this is the only picture of all three....I'm not even worrying about it.  One day.....

Saying goodbye after a week :-(

Cousin Love
Getting some Aunt Cassey loving

Newborn sweetness...I could have all the babies in the world, if they stayed like this ;-)

Not a good picture but for documentation sake this was the morning of c-section.  39 wks 5 days.  Pretty sure without modern medicine I would be pregnant forever!

soaking it up
