Rocky Daisy Hardin

So, here we go again, round 2 with a dog......
(let's hope it goes better than Smoky)

How it began:

Hampton has been asking for a dog for years and I had just randomly started telling him "maybe when you're seven."  Well, that kind of turned into a promise....."When you're seven you can have a dog."  Well, is Hampton 7?  No, but he knows he is getting close.  Anyway, Brent who has totally been against getting a dog, one day decides to get on the internet and look for a dog.  Harmless, right?!  Wrong.  Within a week Brent had gotten us a dog.  Daisy from Pennsylvania.  For the record, I was against it .....y'all three kids is no joke and I was not thrilled for another living being to be responsible for.  I thought it best to wait.....and really to keep our  my promise I just needed to have a puppy by the time Hampton turned eight.  Kind of sneaky, but for the best!?!  Well, then Brent starts texting me pictures of this sweet pup ..... and who could say no to that face.  I mean, really?!  I obviously couldn't say no very long.  We surprised the kids and loaded up the car one night around 830 after baths and headed to the airport in our pajamas to pick her up.  They had no clue!  It was awesome and I hope they remember it.  She was just as cute as her picture and even sweeter.  She sat with Hampton the whole ride home and did not make a peep.

So, how is it going?

I guess as good as it could be!!  It's honestly like having 3 and a 1/2 children.  Hampton has really stepped up to the plate and taken a majority of the responsibility.  Rocky sleeps with him every night and when Hampton wakes up (around 530, he's our early riser.  though I think Rocky is waking him up a little earlier than normal) he carries her to me to take out.  So, I'm a little extra tired but really that is the worst part for me.  Hollins and Rocky have a love/hate relationship which requires a lot of my attention.  And slowly but surely Anne Lowry is coming around (she was my most Non-dog kid).

I'll admit, she's been worth it all.  I think all kids should get to grow up with a dog :-)

**HOPE EVERYONE HAD A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!  Brent was on call so we stayed here and celebrated.

Halloween Happenings!

Short and sweet this year.....

I totally slacked and the kids first time to dress up in their costumes was the night before halloween.  I also only bought one costume.....for Hampton (which he didn't end up wearing).  He wanted to be a police officer.  Anne Lowry wanted to be a ballerina (figured we already had stuff).  And Hollins still doesn't talk.  I thought about a cabbage patch doll for Hollins but then decided she would never wear the wig and without the wig she wouldn't be anything :-). If I would have been on my "A" game I would have bought her a puppy dog costume because she can actually say "dog" and loves them!  Anyway, night one we had Spiderman, Elena of Avalor and a cat (that barely still fit from last year)--no pictures!!

On actual Halloween we met a big group for a hayride around the neighborhood and cookout.  The kids had a blast and went to bed with stomach aches.

Pumpkin carving...

The only pictures I got with my camera from Halloween night. This was after we got back home.
*my kids are horrible at group pictures --I don't know why I even try!

Oct. 4th....Anne Lowry is FIVE!!

I have to say.....Anne Lowry is like a fine wine, she just keeps getting better with age :-).  I think she has a better grip on all those big emotions...which means fewer meltdowns and less mountains to die atop, haha!!

This girl keeps us all in line and on our toes (I'm pretty sure I've been saying this since she was one year old).  Seriously, she does not miss a beat!  The other day we were talking in the car and she said appropriately, "wait a minute, I need to crunch the numbers."  Some days I feel like I'm talking to an adult.  She is smart, funny, confident, stubborn and has one of the biggest hearts I have ever seen.  During the "terrible twos" I use to say I was just going to "love it out of her!"  Well, I think it may be working {a little} ;-)  Just in time because I'm afraid I'm going to have to refocus my efforts on Hollins who is beginning to give us a run for our money.

Last sleep as a four year old ...

waking up a whole hand full!

She had a "Cartwheels and Cupcakes" party.  It was fun and super easy!  She is one loved little girl and we loved celebrating her.

Our first season of Soccer!

As far as I can tell at age 6 and 4, no soccer scholarships will be awarded to these two :-)

However, they both had fun and loved it so that's a win!

These girlies wore their daddies' number from highschool.

Life is better on the boat!

(So, we have been having computer problems over here.  Like, major problems.  Apparently, our "hard drive crashed" and we've lost everything that was on it.  I'm personally just worried about all the pictures.  I can't even think about it.  Anyway, I'm blogging on Brent's work computer)

At the end of August we took a quick weekend trip up to Greer's Ferry Lake in Arkansas with the Archers and Koskos.  This is where Brent grew up vacationing each year.  For various reasons, this was my very first time to go and see what all the hype was about!!  Finally, 10+ years and I officially feel like a Hardin ;-)

A good time was had by all :-) Cliff jumping, tubing, hot dog riding, chips and sprites galore, even a ping pong tournament one night along with a kitten.  Oh yeah, and a boat with NO reverse.  The kids were in heaven.   Enjoy the pictures!
